On top of her head are her wide-spaced ears which are rounded at the end. Inside, her skin is soft and pink, peppered with thick white hairs. Her whiskers droop down from her little muzzle, and they are white as well. Overall Personality • Firstorm, as her suffix suggests, is a dynamic and ever-changing cat. She is often energetic and enjoys trying new things wherever she goes. Her eagerness to experience new things and her mental resilience means that she can easily adapt to any situation and adjust her reaction accordingly. She is sharp-minded, witty and analytical. Despite these undoubtedly useful and important personality traits, Firstorm is unpopular in her clan due to her natural aversion to authority figures. As such, she finds the clan system to be unfair and restrictive. She has considered running away and becoming a travelling loner, but her anxiety about living alone and her ties to her family have always won out in the end and kept her in Pineclan.
Often, Firstorm can be temperamental. It is not difficult to put her in a bad mood. When she is like this she is hard to speak to and can lash out unfairly. This is mostly due to Firstorm's tendency to take everything to heart, even if no personal insult is meant. This personality trait meant that her apprenticehood was a bit of a nightmare for her. Firstorm learns best when she is left to her own devices, and whilst she was an unpromising apprentice, she has improved as a warrior. Despite this, she is still prone to these morose moods when she is criticised or told off.
When Firstorm is angry or upset about something, she always goes to her older brother Bitternnose to vent. She is very close to Bitternnose, and they often can be seen hanging out sharing tongues just before sleeping. Firstorm enjoys a strong bond with her father too, and greatly enjoys visiting him to chat. Her family is very important to her, and really she only stays in Pineclan because she'd miss them so much. Firstorm enjoys her relations to Larkwhisker, but wishes to grow closer to her older brother Cranepelt. She deeply despises how his feud with Bitternnose has ripped their formerly happy family apart, and, whilst not fully understanding why this family feud occurred, she antagonises Craneplet for it.

Overall History •
Pre-Birth
Walnutwhisker and Sleetfoot were good friends ever since their apprenticeship. They deeply trusted each other, but their shyness meant that it took many moons before the pair came together as mates. Their first litter came late during their lives, and consisted of four tomkittens. Unfortunately, little Dovekit died only two moons after being born, leaving his three brothers, Bitternkit, Cranekit, and Larkkit. Cranekit and Larkkit were well-known around camp for their zest for life and sweetly-mischievous nature, whilst Bitternkit was more reserved and clingy. His parents adored this aspect of him, and he was praised by them often. This had the opposite intended effect, and later on Bitternkit grew entitled and rebellious, joining and overshadowing his brother's antics. This resulted in the apprentice ceremony Bitternkit being pushed back.
Whilst these three kittens enjoyed themselves in the nursery, Pineclan fought a war with Moorclan. Sleetfoot's dear friend, Aspencloud, was killed in that war, and her death was hard to accept for Sleetfoot. Even after the war was over, and the two clan leaders reconciled, the memor of Aspencloud did not fade from many of the Pineclan warriors. And whilst the kittens of Pineclan could never hope to understand the trauma and complexities of war, the tension still travelled through camp to them.
Larkkit and Cranekit were apprenticed. Larkpaw smarted up his act, and decided to distance himself from his other two brothers. Despite wobbly beginnings, he grew to become a strong and agile hunter, known for his eptitude with heights. Meanwhile, Cranepaw continued trying to follow Bitternkit's examples, but training under his incredibly harsh mentor with no words of praise resulted in him becoming bitter and jealous, especially after seeing his brothers succeed. After a moon of waiting, Bitternkit was named Bitternpaw and mentored. Through his apprenticeship, Bitternpaw learnt the important virtues of loyalty and obedience that he had previously lacked, soon turning into a gifted hunter and tracker.
All three cats were then made into fully-fledged warriors. Larkpaw and Bitternpaw were given the -whisker and -nose suffix respectively, whilst Cranepaw was given the less-specific -pelt suffix. In their days of early warriorhood, Bitternnose and Larkwhisker overcame their differences and became close again, with Bitternnose often helping take care of Larkwhisker's young family. Cranepelt, however, continued to isolate himself from his family, his feelings of inferiority and envy only growing.
Kithood
This was around the time that Firkit was born. She was the only resultant of a long and difficult labour, and was coveted by her two parents. Perhaps this early bubble-wrapping was the reason for her risk-oblivious, curious adventures later. Both Larkwhisker and Bitternnose visited her often, although Bitternnose was busy with his first apprentice. Cranepelt, however, found it difficult to look at Firkit. She did not know much of this mysterious third brother, and despite her best efforts to emotionally connect with him, he remained aloof to her.
As she grew, Firkit's adventurous side revealed itself. She often snuck out of the nursery to explore other parts of the camp, and was well-known for hiding in the elders den to try and listen to some of their less kit-friendly stories. On one particular day, Firkit disappeared from camp. The nurses of Pineclan were distraught, and looked all about for her. Eventually, she was found hanging onto the branch of a pine tree, a few cat-lengths up in the air, outside of camp. Her parents were furious at her for this reckless activity, and she was severely punished. Firkit didn't understand why, however. Hadn't she done a good thing? Hadn't she been brave and smart, like the warriors in the elder's tales? Why, some warriors had difficulty climbing, and she had managed to get a long way up! The clan's reaction didn't make any sense to her at all.
Apprenticehood
Firkit was apprenticed as Firpaw, and given Gadwallclaw as a mentor. Gadwallclaw was a well-respected warrior in Pineclan, and she shared Firpaw's adventurous and curious spirit. Firpaw mostly enjoyed training under her, and learnt a lot. Despite this, there were still parts of clan life that she did not fully understand. She wanted to go explore the town and the mountains, but she wasn't allowed to do that - the code forbade it. Gadwallclaw reminded her of that often. Gadwallclaw, despite her fun personality, adored Pineclan with her entire heart. She did not humour Firpaw when she wanted to vent. And Gadwallclaw took the clan code very seriously. Firpaw found it hard to take her seriously when she said this. Everyone knew that Tiptail used to be an outsider. In fact, knowing Tiptail through Gadwallclaw made Firpaw realise that not all cats were clan cats. She'd often spend time around Tiptail, trying to encourage him to speak about his days as an outsider. Whilst he was originally adverse to speaking about it, he would sometimes tell her about how he ate cooked pieces of meat from the twolegs, or how he hunted fat, grain-fed mice. Whilst Tiptail did not miss his days as an outsider and viewed his clan life as a much more privileged position, Firpaw thought his loner days sounded divine. When she was getting in trouble for doing something that seemed minor to her, she'd think of Tiptail's stories about outsider life.
Firpaw was 11 moons old when she decided to run away. She decided to confide in her close brother Bitternnose, as she wanted her family to at least know that she was alive. Firpaw had expected for Bitternnose to be upset with her, sure, but she also believed that he'd understand where she was coming from and wish her well. Instead, Bitternnose was upset and shocked at Firpaw's decision, and begged her to stay in the safety of Pineclan. Upset and frightened by her brother's intense emotional response, Firpaw decided to give warriorhood a go for him.
Warriorhood
And so, Firpaw hung around for her warrior ceremony. She took the suffix -storm, an ironic reminder of how her birth clan viewed her own logic. Being a warrior did offer her a little more freedom, and she did enjoy that at first, but eventually the novelty wore out. Warrior life was deceptively free. Really, it was more like being apprenticed to the senior warriors and the monarch. Why should she respect the senior warriors and the monarch? Because they lived through a stupid petty war? Because they're supposedly smarter than all those junior warriors? Because some magical fairy waved a rowan branch over their heads and now they're super cool and everything? It doesn't make sense to Firstorm. She has very few friends in Pineclan, and very little reason to stay.
